+ What is Digital Mammography?
Digital mammography (3D), also called full-field digital mammography (FFDM), is a mammography system in which the x-ray film is replaced by solid-state detectors that convert x-rays into electrical signals. These detectors are similar to those found in digital cameras. The electrical signals are used to produce images of the breast that can be seen on a computer screen or printed on special film similar to conventional mammograms.
+ WHY WE RECOMMEND 3D MAMMOGRAPHY
Based on factual evidence, 3D mammography is simply a better mammogram. This technology is clinically proven, and it’s the most accurate mammogram available. It is the biggest breakthrough in breast cancer detection in 30 years.
+ WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Our mammography center uses the latest state-of-the-art digital mammography technology and equipment by Hologic. Your mammogram will be interpreted by our trained breast imaging radiologists. Our physicians have direct access to the radiologists that work with our center to help ensure quicker results and intervention, if necessary.
+ 3D Mammography Facts

- 3D mammography detects 41% more invasive breast cancers and reduces the chance that you will need to be called back for additional views by up to 40%.
- 3D mammography is approved for all women who would be undergoing a standard mammogram regardless of age or breast type.
- Very little X-ray dose is used during the 3D mammography exam, about the same amount as a traditional film mammogram and well within the FDA safety standards.
